2010 Worldwide Telecommunications Congress in Veracruz

Volunteers Needed Sept - Oct
FFHE has been invited to provide over 100 volunteers to spend six weeks in Veracruz, Mexico as translators and facilitators for high-ranking government officials from over 200 countries as they attend this U.N. sponsored event. FFHE was selected partly because of the quality of people that have participated in humanitarian work in Veracruz this past year.

Volunteers will be responsible to pay approximately $1500, which includes roundtrip airfare, accommodations for six weeks and humanitarian aid materials. In conjunction with several local organizations, we have several meaningful humanitarian projects for our volunteers to participate in during their free time from the conference.

Volunteers must be fluent in English and at least one other language. Please contact an FFHE representative if you are interested and would like to learn more. We will be posting information on the ffhe.org website as this opportunity develops.

What A Year!

This year has presented tremendous opportunities and challenges for Family to Family. Through our experience we have been able to help those in need and meet many people who share in our vision to strengthen families through service.

Through the cooperation and hard work of many participants as well as our dedicated board members, we have overcome obstacles, which included safety concerns, the swine flu outbreak, and airline bankruptcy. Despite these challenges we were able to participate in March, June, July, and October Expeditions to Ensenada (1) and Veracruz (3). Many individual and family units were strengthened, both those who participated as well as those who were served in Mexico.

We were also introduced to new partners in Mexico who share in our vision and want to participate in a significant way. These include our newfound partners in Veracruz, as well as new partners in Tequisquiapan, Querétaro.

We look forward to an exciting and eventful 2010 as we march towards great opportunities to assist the poor and needy. Thanks one and all for your interest and support in this great cause. ¡Los quiero mucho!

October Expedtion to Veracruz

"Going on expeditions with Family to Family has drastically changed my outlook on life"

Courtney Hohl

Each expedition I have participated in, in several locations in Mexico, has been different but equally rewarding. The October 2009 Veracruz trip was my third with FFHE and I am grateful for the experiences we had.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was not only what we were able to give through service but what the people we served gave us. Their example, humility, and love taught me more than I could have learned from any anthropology class. It taught me more than what it means to do something nice for someone else. The love of the Mexican people and also the love of the people in our group has taught me what the Savior teaches all of us: what it means to put God first in your life.

Besides learning so much from the other group members who come from different backgrounds and who have faced different life experiences, another one of my favorite parts of the trip was seeing how much the Mexican church members came together to serve each other. They are such hard workers and dedicated a lot of time serving their neighbors and friends. I love Family to Family for the relationships I have gained with the people as I have tried to serve them. They have shaped my life and changed me in ways I can't express. The only way to truly understand is to experience it for yourself.
