How To Help
Join an Expedition
The absolute best way to be part of the solution is to actually participate in the solution. We have made every effort to make expeditions affordable. Additionally, there are a limited number of "scholarships" available that pay half the cost of an expedition. We are not in the business of making money. We are in the business of changing lives. Making donations and organizing other projects are wonderful ways to help and have a profound affect on the people in Mexico. However, when people go to Mexico, live with the people there, and help better their lives, they come back changed. They come back with a new appreciation of what they have and a greater determination to help others that have so little. We hope everyone can participate in an expedition so many families can experience a positive change in thier lives.
Contribute to an Expedition
If you are unable to go on an expedition but still want to help the expedition or an individual participating in an expedition you can contribute directly to a project which we will be doing on the expedition. This is a great way to really help people in need. A very small contribution in the US goes a very long way in Mexico. You can send your money directly to FFHE or you can send it with an expedition member. You can contribute in any amount but the approximate costs of projects are listed to help you determine how best to help:
> Complete Bathroom with septic system, toilet and shower = $300
USD
> Cement floor for a 2 -3 bedroom adobe home = $85
USD
> Cement roof for an adobe home = $85
USD
Organize a Project
During many of the past expeditions we have had people prepare and send as well as prepare and bring various projects. One of our first "projects" was finding an ambulance in Colorado that we then transferred to Bermejillo, Mexico. We have had young women collect and bring clothing for specific people in the area. Several Eagle Scout Projects have been completed including first aid kits and birthing kits for the local clinic. To see an adolescent boy take over 100 birthing kits into a very undersupplied clinic was worth the entire trip. The local doctor actually told him that "her faith in youth had been restored". We have also had individuals and groups prepare quilts, clothing and medical supplies that we have taken with us to Mexico. In every instance these have been a great benefit to the local people and community. We are interested in facilitating any project that will help the local people and their community.
